[edit] BWP1 - The Coyote Expedition

According to legend, a coyote clan has resided in The DarkLands for centuries. The most popular story tells of two wolf pups vanishing without a trace in the valley, which lies northeast of the Salvaje Mountains Valley just above the Sabbia Valley. The pups were presumed murdered, which led to a clash between wolves and coyotes that led to the latter being driven into hiding deep within The DarkLands.

Coyotes did not resurface until September 2000 when several run-ins between wolf and coyote were rumored to occur. These run-ins culminated when two Gold Moon Forest leaders, Épique and Ravn DarkMoon were ambushed in The DarkLands. This set off a series of minor skirmishes until Ravn, Sphinx Endore and Cypress Frostfur decided to send members of their packs (Gold Moon Forest, Silver Creek and Mount Shadow, respectively) to destroy the clan.

The expedition occurred on November 25, 2000 when three groups of wolves (not pack-based) entered The DarkLands. They were victorious but the battles resulted in several coyote deaths as well as the deaths of Ravn DarkMoon and Nathan. Deadlock was also presumed dead but later discovered alive in well in Nova Mountain.

A group of wolves remained at the entrance to the DarkLands to prevent the escape of coyotes and to help care for the wounded wolves who made their way back from battle. They were:

[edit] BWP2 - water poisoning

A human catastrophe upstream caused Morning Glory Cascades, the main water supply of the Salvaje Mountains Valley, to become tainted in July 2001. Several wolves suffered symptoms ranging from nausea to dementia after consuming the tainted water and even when the water again became safe to drink, the wolves were still suffering from the effects of the poisoning. There was widespread paranoia and chaos as several medics and even non-medics searched for a cure.

A cure was finally discovered in August 2001 by Chogan Saqui-Citlali and February der Fe'hlien.

[edit] BWP3 - the missing Me'ko

Green Endore of Strawberry Fields led an expedition through Whisper Forest that discovered a tunnel under Nova Mountain leading to the Neve Valley in June 2001. His party did not stay in the area long as they felt it was haunted. Rumors of ghosts haunting Whisper Forest and other southern regions of the Salvaje Mountains Valley began spreading in mid-autumn of 2001. Some believed it was due to delusion on the part of wolves suffering from the water poisoning of summer 2001. It was soon discovered that the "ghosts" were in fact living creatures belonging to the Hó’nehe tribe of wolves that had just relocated from their ancestral homelands to the Neve Valley and discovered a tunnel under Nova Mountain linking Hó’nehe-hsto’e, their new lands, to Whisper Forest.

The Hó’nehe relocated to the Salvajes based on the visions of their resident psychic, Zyanya SpiritWhisperer, that their missing Me’ko was in the area. The last Hó’nehe Me’ko had died and the tribe was under temporary leadership while they searched for the rightful leader of their pack. Zyanya discovered in October 2001 that Chogan Saqui-Citlali was the heir they were searching for. Chogan, however, was unwilling to leave his home in Strawberry Fields.

The Hó’nehe invaded Strawberry Fields in November 2001 in an attempt to kidnap Chogan and bring him back to the ancestral homelands. They were unsuccessful and, recognizing defeat, left the Neve Valley in December 2001.

[edit] BWP4 - SC-NM tensions

Silver Creek and Nova Mountain seemed to be weary of each other from the time Nova Mountain was founded in 2000 after a member of Silver Creek, Danflower Reguba, joined Nova Mountain shortly after it opened. This uneasy indifference turned to belligerence in October 2001, when Allure DeMonte of Nova Mountain was attacked by Shadow of Silver Creek in Hickory Stream Woods. This was the first of several incidents between the two packs, others included:

The tension never came to blows between the pack as a whole and ended in January 2002 when Silver Creek disbanded. Sphinx moved to Winterheart Forest with many of her pack mates, Sinistra disappeared, and GoldenShadow moved the rest of Silver Creek's members to Silent Moon Plateau.

[edit] BWP5 - Everto Peak

After the tension between Nova Mountain and Silver Creek subsided, and the Hó’nehe had departed, a reign of peace fell upon the Valley. It was over a year until chaos again loomed on the horizon. The situation began when Caligula Aurelius Nero of Nova Mountain attempted to rape Athena DiSarinno of Silent Moon Plateau. Ashamed of his behavior, Caligula confessed to Jubilee DeMonte, Nova Mountain's Cæsar, and was promptly exiled. Bitter and probably a bit embarrassed, the proud Caligula recruited Fiesta Vidadel and began building an army. He moved to the other side of the Valley and claimed Mount Shadow, renaming it Everto Peak. Throughout the summer of 2003, the army grew in strength and numbers despite the heat wave that plagued the lands for several months.

Finally, when the weather turned to a more livable autumn temperature, Caligula returned from his self-imposed retreat to commune with the gods and began to set his plan in action. He demanded that Jubilee hand over Nova Mountain or rule alongside it as his "mate," both options which the Novan Cæsar refused. Meanwhile, Evertos caused trouble all over the lands, having several run-ins with the suspicious Salvaje wolves.

In November 2003, Caligula rallied his army and launched an all-out assault on Nova Mountain. Along with Anubis Featherstone, Danflower Reguba, once a loyal Novan and supporter of Sinistra DiSarinno in the cold war with Silver Creek, and Drac Kehman, son of Strawberry Fields Rey Smoke Kehman, the front band of Caligula's army captured Jubilee and held her hostage. Persephone Nero, Caligula's young daughter, was also with the group. After successfully subduing Jubilee, Anubis, Caligula and Drac left to continue the fight elsewhere, leaving Danflower to care for their captive and Persephone. Not soon after their departure, Bhreac Roux-Arbhen, daughter of former Strawberry Fields Alphas Quicksilver Roux-Arbhen and Green Endore-Arbhen, who had become Caligula's mate, burst into the den to free Jubilee. She had maintained her loyalty to Nova Mountain, lying and conniving Caligula all along. As it turned out, Danflower had done the same, and was in the process of explaining the situation to Jubilee when Bhreac attempted the rescue mission. Persephone, outraged that Bhreac had betrayed her father, ran from the scene. Danflower Reguba departed Jubilee DeMonte's den just after Bhreac Roux-Arbhen and Shila Jlyha-Phase arrived. He sought out Caligula to continue his devious ploy by informing the Everto Cæsar of Jubilee’s escape.

Anubis met with and battled Shila Jlyha-Phase, daughter of Nova's former leaders Tobin Phase and Siaqi Jlyha. Anubis fell to her death from the mountain but not before leaving Shila with serious injuries. Drac Kehman ended up facing off with Arsenio Jlyha-Phase, Shila's older brother. The outcome was much the same: Arsenio escaped with injuries, but Drac lost his life. Chena Jlyha-Phase was not as fortunate. Though she managed to escape with her life — barely — she was badly injured by Contusion Aubergine.

Elsewhere, Macbeth Frostfur, who had betrayed his family for Everto Peak, came face to face with his father, Cypress Frostfur, a Whisper Forest leader loyal to Nova Mountain's cause. After a heated exchange, Macbeth fell from Nova Mountain and met his death. Family ties were also put to the test when Poison Scarlet, an Everto, ended up at odds with Altrir Ozarios, her uncle and a loyal Novan. The battle ended with Poison at Altrir's mercy, though he spared her life. Friendships were also tested by the invasion: Rain Takanami of Strawberry Fields engaged in battle with Alto Guerrero who she had previously met — and tended to the wounds of. The only battle lacking any sort of personal element was between Adonis Nero and Felix Everwhite, which ended with Felix graciously sparing Adonis’ fading life.

Athena DiSarinno of Silent Moon Plateau took on Ravi K'hounti. Ravi was aided by Contusion Aubergine who had just left Chena Jlyha-Phase for dead. Together, the two overpowered Athena and were attempting to take her hostage when they were assailed by Sinistra DiSarinno, who had followed the Evertos from Mount Shadow. Sinistra and Athena managed to drive both Contusion and Ravi away, though Athena sustained a serious injury to her foreleg and Sinistra was also wounded. Meanwhile, Romulus DiSarinno was defending the lands against Cyril Irving.

After learning of Jubilee’s escape from Danflower, Caligula traveled towards her den to see if the news was true. Instead of finding her, he found Arsenio, fresh off his victory against Drac. The two fought, with Caligula emerging the victor and Arsenio left seriously injured. Caligula was then assailed by Bronx DeMonte, Fravardin of Whisper Forest and father by adoption of Jubilee DeMonte. Their battle was interrupted when Karka DeMonte-Sairensu, Bronx’s nephew and son of Allure DeMonte who had been injured by an Everto earlier in the year, was attacked nearby by an unknown Everto supporter. Caligula ended up escaping as Bronx saved Karka.

Archer Naïlo had been one of Caligula's most beloved friends — a brother, in fact. But Archer was loyal to Nova Mountain in spite of his close ties to the enemy Cæsar. When the Everto invaded, Archer battled Keon Saturnin but the battle ended in an unspoken truce. Afterwards Archer sought to aid the rest of his pack and came upon a badly injured Caligula, whom he fought and ultimately killed.

Though they had successfully fought off the Everto invasion, both Jubilee and Arsenio were seriously injured and decided to leave Nova Mountain for a few days’ respite in the Neve Valley. There they found a territory named Sleepy Fox Hollow and fell in love with it, deciding to move there permanently and leave Nova Mountain to the care of Romulus DiSarinno and Shila Jlyha-Phase .

[edit] BWP6 - Fimbulvetr

As November ended and winter dawned, it soon became obvious that the winter of 2004 - 2005 was going to be colder than any other.
