Wild Wolf Society
From Wild Wolf Society
The Wild Wolf Society (WWS) is a play-by-post roleplaying game where members create and play characters that are wolves or other wild animals (known as Valley Creatures). It has had two inceptions: WWS1 (2000 - 2002) and WWS2 (2005 - present).

[edit] WWS1
WWS1 was started by Sarah in March 2000 on Geocities as a place for wolf lovers to communicate. It did not become a roleplaying game until late 2000 when it was moved to ezBoard. WWS1 originally had three packs: Silver Creek, Siena Mountain and Lilac Valley. Other packs were added as the game grew; at its most active point, WWS1 had nine open packs and over 150 members. When WWS1 opened it only had a Salvaje Valley. The Sabbia Valley, The DarkLands and the Neve Valley were added later.
WWS1 had a variety of Out of Character games and activities, including a separate forum for arts (written and visual) and the IC and OoC games of the semi-annual Winter Carnival and Summer Festival celebrations. WWS1 also had a DarkLands Coyote Clan and a Neve Valley. The most notable Out of Character activity offered by both Wild Wolf Societies is the Energy Stones Program, which was actually the inspiration behind WWS1: Energy Stones was the original idea for the game, Wild Wolf Society was how to put the idea into action.
WWS1 originally did not permit Valley Creatures but began to do so after members requested permission to play bears and other wild animals. WWS1 prohibited lone wolves for the entire duration of the game: all wolves were required to belong to a pack.
WWS1 closed in July 2002 with the In Character story that Nova Mountain, which was a volcano in WWS1, had erupted and the Salvaje Valley was destroyed.

[edit] WWS2
WWS2 was started by Sarah, Houkie and Kristen in August 2005 as a re-make of WWS1. As with the first version, the second version began with three packs (Gold Moon Forest, Silver Creek and Mount Shadow) but has added additional packs as growth requires.
WWS2 has had a variety of Board Wide Plots, including the DarkLands Coyote Clan from the original game, a water poisoning episode, a ghostly run-in with the from-far-away Hó’nehe tribe and a 'cold war' between Silver Creek and Nova Mountain. WWS2 also has featured a variety of Out of Character games and activities, such as the Energy Stones, Trivia Contest, Write Like Crazy! and other member-run games.
WWS2 is set in the past. All IC dates are five years behind the current OoC date.
[edit] Differences Between WWS1 and WWS2
While some things stayed the same from WWS1 to WWS2, some things changed:
- Nova Mountain is no longer a volcano. Instead of volcanic eruption, fires are blamed for the damage to past wolf packs that lived in the Salvajes.
- There are no longer a Territory Borders. The area known as the Territory Borders is now called Rosewood Glen.
- Lilac Valley is once again known by that name and not as Freedom Glen.
- Moonlight Ridge no longer exists: the area is known as Upper Nova Mountain, with the old Nova Mountain called Lower Nova Mountain.
- Lone wolves are permitted.
[edit] In Character
WWS2 is set in the Salvaje Mountains Valley, which is victim of a time loop that explains how and why the game has gone back in time to before the destruction that caused the end of WWS1. Instead of volcanic eruption and human hunting, the First Great Fire is to blame for the destruction of the Nova Mountain-based DarkMoon pack and the Second Great Fire is responsible for the destruction of the Valley of the Golden Sun-based GoldenSun pack. After the Second Great Fire in 2000, Ravn and Shadow DarkMoon, sister and brother, left the GoldenSun pack and returned to the Salvajes to start their own packs there. Ravn began Gold Moon Forest and Shadow began Mount Shadow. Sphinx started a pack in Silver Creek around the same time.
Not even a month later, Shadow disappeared and Mount Shadow was taken over by a deranged wolf named Danger, at which time the Mount Shadow pack decided to relocate to Sterling Waters under the leadership of Firefox. In September 2000 Firefox also disappeared and Cypress Frostfur took over, moving the pack back to Mount Shadow where it belonged.
Coyotes wreaked havoc in the Valley beginning in September 2000 when they killed Épique on an attack on him and Ravn, both members of Gold Moon Forest. Ravn, along with Sphinx and Cypress, decided to lead an expedition into The DarkLands to destroy the DarkLands Coyote Clan once and for all. In the fighting, Ravn died, as did a Mount Shadow wolf named Nathan, and several coyotes. Deadlock of Gold Moon Forest was also thought to be dead.
Shortly after the coyote expedition, Sinistra DiSarinno founded a pack on Nova Mountain, where his mother's family lived before the First Great Fire. Sinistra had discovered Tobin in The DarkLands when he went to bury his cousin, Ravn, and brought the disoriented fighter to Nova Mountain with him.
Sometime shortly after Ravn's death, the Gold Moon Forest pack relocated to Strawberry Fields after flooding ravaged the terrain.
Cypress disappeared from Mount Shadow the next spring, leaving Oni Dokuga in charge. Rayen Saqui and Midas Citlali, who had taken leadership of Gold Moon Forest after Ravn's death, disappeared around the same time, leaving that pack in the paws of Rayen's friend Sacnite. Sinistra and Calliope DiSarinno were not long after them, which left Tobin Phase in control of Nova Mountain. A week or so later, Sacnite disappeared as well, leaving Quicksilver Roux-Arbhen in charge, and Sphinx departed Silver Creek, where GoldenShadow took control.
Sphinx and Sinistra returned to their packs and positions in June just in time for a chemical spill upstream to poison the water supply with a dangerous toxin that caused hallucinations to permeate the Valley. A cure was discovered in August 2001 by Chogan Saqui-Citlali and February der Fe'hlien, but the drama in the Salvajes was just heating up.
The Hó’nehe tribe arrived on the scene shortly after the cure was discovered. They quickly located their missing Me'ko heir, Chogan Saqui-Citlali and set about kidnapping him by invading Strawberry Fields but were defeated and gave up, retreating back to their ancestral homelands. Meanwhile, the tunnel they were using to travel from their claimed lands into the Salvajes opened up the route to the Neve Valley.
The end of the Hó’nehe ordeal gave rise to strife between Silver Creek and Nova Mountain which lasted most of the winter of 2001-2002. Seeking to separate themselves in this time of fear and confusion, the packs decided to customize their hierarchies with each group selecting a system that had particular meaning to its members. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Valley, Rayen Saqui returned to Strawberry Fields and Quicksilver Roux-Arbhen departed, which put Rayen in the Alpha spot once more.
Sinistra disappeared mysteriously from Nova Mountain in January 2002, leaving Poet DeMonte as Cæsar. Sphinx and GoldenShadow met with the new Mountain leader at the end of the month and reached a truce that involved Silver Creek disbanding, with some members relocating to Winterheart Forest under Sphinx's leadership and some moving to Silent Moon Plateau under GoldenShadow's leadership.
All was quiet throughout the summer but autumn brought a host of changes. In August 2002 Element Parcurali founded Argent Falls in the Neve Valley. Poet DeMonte fell to his death on Nova Mountain in September, leaving his mate, Jubilee DeMonte as the Cæsar. Around the same time, GoldenShadow disappeared from the Valley and Takashi Keizo stepped into the leadership position in Silent Moon Plateau.
January 1, 2003, Rayen Saqui announced she would again depart and left Riot Stormwing as Reina of the pack. A few weeks later, Oni Dokuga is visited by a strange wolf named Warlock, who convinces her to leave. Cypress Frostfur does not permit Warlock to take over the pack, which causes a series of strange events to occur on the mountain. Not long after that the pack disbanded, hoping to escape the rumor that their former packlands are cursed.
In early March 2003 Bronx DeMonte moved his family from Nova Mountain to Whisper Forest and began a pack there after two of his children, Ceridwin and Sarasvati were injured in a fall on the mountain.
